A few words
Our story starts way back in the 1960’s, when the association was formed by students at Carleton University. In 1979, it was federally incorporated as the Jamaican (Ottawa) Community Association Inc.
The Jamaican (Ottawa) Community Association Inc. J(O)CA Inc. is a registered not-for-profit organization whose mission is to engage residents in community stewardship; to impact decisions that affect the community; to raise awareness; to foster a sense of spirit and pride; and to encourage participation in community issues, solutions, projects and events.
We are at the heart of the community, offering diverse and relevant activities activities for all. It is a place where neighbours meet, learn and volunteer.
The association provides physical intellectual, social and cultural services and programs that contribute to individual and community health and development.
